Eating lunch one Sunday after church, we asked the girls what they learned in Sunday school:
Camille: We talked about a billy goat.
Me: Oh, really? What about a billy goat?
Charlotte: Well, this really mean king threw them into the fire but God protected them and they didn't get hurt. They didn't even smell like smoke!!
Me: Oh, you learned about Meshach, Shadrach, and Abednego?!
Camille: Yeah, mom, that's what I said! Meshach, Shadrach, and a billy goat!
One evening tucking Charlotte into bed (a few days before their Thanksgiving Feast at school, where they will be Indians):
Charlotte (eyes really wide): Mom, did you know that Indians shoot deer with their arrows? Those poor poor little deers!
Travis: Girls, please finish your dinner. You didn't eat squat!
Charlotte: We don't like squat!
(In Target, upon seeing a soldier in camo)
Charlotte: Mom, look, it's an American soldier! He guards the American flag! (I think they've been talking about this a lot in preschool)
Me: Yes, he does!
Charlotte: Mom, do you think when he goes to sleep at night he wears soldier pajamas?
